 Why do I prefer functional strength training over machine strength training?

The debate between functional strength training/ manual training and machine strength training is multifaceted, and the superiority of one over the other can depend on various factors, including individual fitness goals, physical condition, and preferences. While both forms of training have their own advantages and drawbacks, here are some reasons why I think manual training might be considered better in certain situations.
Stabilizer muscle engagement- Manual training, such as free weight exercises, often requires the engagement of stabilizer muscles to maintain balance and control the weight, leading to improved overall strength and stability. This is especially beneficial for athletes and individuals looking to improve functional strength for sports or daily activities.
Natural movement patterns- Manual training can mimic natural movement patterns more closely than fixed machine exercises. This can contribute to functional fitness and improved coordination, as the movements are more likely to translate to real-life activities.
Versatility and variety- With manual training, there is a wide range of exercises that can be performed using a single piece of equipment. This provides more versatility and the ability to target multiple muscle groups simultaneously, allowing for a more comprehensive and efficient workout.
